An accumulator or transfer vessel is consisted of a cylinder equipped with two end plugs and a piston. This piston divides the cylinder to two chambers. One chamber is filled with hydraulic fluid (water or hydraulic oil) and the other chamber contains the test fluid. As the hydraulic fluid is an incompressible fluid, injecting a determined volume of hydraulic fluid into the hydraulic chamber, delivers out the exact volume of test fluid to other system. The transfer vessel has a wide applications in oil and gas laboratories especially in EOR, PVT, SCAL labs, and is considered as a main part of most apparatuses.
